If you dread going to the dentist, your trepidation may soon lift. Laser technology, which has been used in innumerable types of medical procedures for years, has come to dental offices. Laser dentistry has allowed procedures to be done more quickly, comfortably and successfully.
More and more dental practices are incorporating lasers into their practice. New Day Dentistry PLLC is proud to be one of them. We are your go-to destination for excellent care that will help you look and feel your best. Whether you are due for your next oral exam, require urgent treatment or want the opinion of an experienced dentist, you can count on us.
Different lasers for different uses
The Food and Drug Administration has cleared more than 20 uses of lasers in dentistry. They are usually used in procedures that involve soft tissues in the mouth, such as eliminating tartar, and cutting and removing soft gum tissue, as well as treating oral ulcers, cold sores, periodontal disease and gum infections. Laser treatments produce less bleeding during and after surgical procedures, diminish discomfort and reduce swelling.
Other types of lasers can be used on the hard tissues of teeth to help remove tooth decay, carry out root canal therapy and prepare cavities for fillings. Lasers designed for use on hard tissue may lessen the need for anesthesia and the chances of overheating a tooth’s pulp and nerve. Lasers can also be used to whiten teeth and detect tooth decay.
As with any treatment, before considering any type of dental laser therapy, speak with your dentist to determine if it’s right for you. As the applications for dental lasers expand, patients will be able to undergo precision treatments that will minimize pain and recovery time.
Healthy teeth and gums are our top priority here at New Day Dentistry PLLC. We offer a wide range of state-of-the-art services to enhance your dental experience. To learn more about laser dentistry and our many other offerings, please call us today.
